The atmosphere created by this Arizona cowboy and by Ol' # 7 just had to be painted! I mean the light and the shadows of the moment were perfect but add to that the mystic caused by the dust and the light made it a perfect painting. If like me you love the stories of the cowboys and the old west then you will love having an original giclee of "Ol #7 Kickin Up Dust" hang on the walls of your home or office. What a great talking piece, especially if you've ever experienced a little time on horseback pretending or imagining you were a cowboy. Every time I see this painting it makes me think of the popular Toby Kieth song "I Should Have Been A Cowboy." I'm sure it's not all that I romanticize in my mind for it to be, but my wife often says that I was born a hundred or so years too late. I imagine in the late 1800s I would have been following a couple of my favorite artists around the west painting and cowboying: C.M. Russell and Frederic Remington. Although, I must confess I much prefer the raw life and painting of Russel over Remington.
